Swedish footwear brand Axel Arigato celebrated their Soho flagship’s one-year anniversary. Designed by architect Christian Halleröd and Brand Creative Director Max Svardh, the space’s clean and minimalist aesthetic made a fitting backdrop for an evening of style, art and music. The event also featured a video wall installation by artist Sam Rolfes with music courtesy of LA DJ, MadBadTing.
Though not yet quite a household name, Gothenburg-headquartered Axel Arigato has grown rapidly since its launch in 2014 and now has an enviable list of stockists including Harvey Nichols, Net-a-Porter and Saks, to name but a few.
Combining understated Scandinavian and Japanese cool, the brand’s mainstay is a sleek low-top silhouette along with an unyielding emphasis on detail and quality. Every pair is handmade from premium Italian leather. Stand-out styles include the Cayman, which features a croc-effect embossed leather upper and contrasting rubber cup-sole. The Platform Sneaker also features a chunky rubber cup sole and is another wearable yet unassumingly smart option, which also comes in suede and a range of unusual colours (check out the Sky Blue and Purple Suede).
