Ka Wa Key SS19 at LFWM was a dreamlike vision of floating fabric construction mixing simplicity with soft masculinity. We were met with a presentation that mixed the looks with performance art. Movement played with the themes of the collection.
Ka Wa Key SS19
Mixed hues of summer sky blues, almost blood like reds and bright yellows of the first butter cups of spring ran through the collection. Using textiles that created a feeling of lightness and sensuality they moved and danced across the room giving an indication of the breeziness of summer; the print reflecting an almost washed-out, restful, puffy-clouded day. Throw in the varying textures of woollen knits inter-played with almost see-through stripped cloth and it really becomes something quite special.
Dungarees, trousers, soft seasonal jackets, t-shirts and jumpers created a full capsule wardrobe that whispers softly of those halcyon endless warm days of August and September. Each look set both as striking enough to be the bolt of difference of a cityscape or alongside a gently babbling stream in a country meadow. In this is the genius of this collection, not only is it interesting, creative and different, but it’s born of a versatility that makes it feel like it’s born of many places.
